The 2018 Highline Bears season is nearly underway – first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, June 1 – which also means a summer full of fun events and giveaways for the whole family. Fans will have various opportunities throughout the season to bring home promo items while showing their support for the team.

“We pride ourselves on being a fun and exciting place you can bring the entire family without breaking the bank. Taking a family of four or five to the movies costs at least $60 once you count in popcorn and drinks. You can bring the entire family down to a Bears game and have dinner for under $40.” said General Manager Justin Moser.

The Bears will kick off their season on Friday, June 1, when they will take on the Everett Emeralds at Mel Olson Stadium in White Center. The first 250 fans to show up to the 7:05 p.m. game will also receive a magnet of the team’s summer schedule.

On June 16, the Bears will celebrate their beloved mascot Buntly’s birthday by giving the first 200 fans to arrive a Buntly bobblehead, and there will also be a special appearance by the Seafair Pirates. Don’t fret if you miss the 200 mark, however, as there will be another shot to get your hands on a Buntly bobblehead in July, when Bobblehead night rolls around on the 30th.

In addition to Bobblehead Night and Buntly’s birthday, the Bears will also celebrate two Military Appreciation Nights, Ice Cream Sunday Night, Kids Night, Taco Tuesday, and Bacon Night. Food Truck Night will also share a game with 12’s Night on July 21st, where Seahawk fans can come and enjoy options from five different food trucks while watching the Bears go head to head with the Seattle Studs.

The final game of the Bears 2018 season will host Fan Appreciation Night, where the team will show thanks to all of the fans that showed up and supported them throughout the summer months.

In addition to providing amusement to the whole community, the Bears do what they can to give back by partnering with local groups and non-profit organizations. These groups gain the opportunity to raise funds by selling tickets, where they then receive 60% of the proceeds.

“We want to help groups raise as much as $10,000 this year. It’s a fun way to get people in our community involved and give groups and non-profits some great exposure” said Chief Operating Officer and Assistant General Manager Steven Finch.

Some of the benefiting groups include West Seattle Baseball, Austen Everett Foundation, Our Sisters House, Avery Strong Foundation, The Matt Griffin YMCA and the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce.

“We feel we do a great job entertaining fans at all of our games. This year we wanted to put something fun in their hands as many times as we could. We aren’t just having a baseball game here, we’re putting on an event and show for the entire community.” said President Russ Pritchard.

With so many games and promotions throughout the season, it is sure to be a summer full of amusement for the entire family.
